Adobe PageMaker - We recommend that you keep your graphics file linked to, and not part of, your file. When you place a graphic in PageMaker, you will receive a message similar to: Warning: The graphic in the document would occupy xxxx Kbytes in the publication. Include a complete copy in the publication anyway? Clicking on "NO" keeps the graphic linked to your PageMaker file, without including the entire file in your PageMaker document. Use FILE menu, select SAVE AS, in the lower corner, click the radio button adjacent to "Files required for remote printing". Next, in the "SAVE IN " window, select a temporary folder on the desk. Finally, click on SAVE. PageMaker will now save your PageMaker file, as well as all required graphics into your temporary folder. (Note this does not copy fonts, so please copy them as well.)

Adobe Illustrator - When saving files as EPS, check boxes in options window Include document thumbnails and include document fonts. Also do not check CMYK postscript box if not 4/c. Line weights should be explicitly defined as .25 pt or larger. Smaller than .25 pt may become invisible and /or inconsistent. Be sure to delete all unused colors.

Your Computer Screen LIES! Designing in CMYK is still not guaranteed to produce the exact colors desired. Your computer screen is an RGB device and all colors on your screen are created using varying levels of Red, Green, Blue. Unfortunately this means you cannot rely on the colors shown on your screen to show an accurate representation of the colors that your file will generate when printed. When specifying color with CMYK values, use a process colormatch swatch book. This will provide accurate representation of how your color will print.. Be sure to use the correct book for coated or uncoated paper. The only safe way to check the colors in your file or scan is to sample various parts with your programs eyedropper tool and compare values returned with a color matching book. Though this procedure can be time consuming and is still not exact, it will greatly increase the likelihood that the colors of your printed piece match your expectations.
